Admission is competitive. On receiving applications, the organizing committee will consider:
i) excellence of academic transcript
ii) good command of oral and written English, and
iii) at least two letters of recommendation.
Additionally, professional expertise will also be valued.
Applicants must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.
The program is designed to be completed in one academic year.
During the fall term, students take economic theory and applied courses, in which they develop the analytical, quantitative and programming skills necessary for the winter term's courses. During the spring term, students write a master's thesis on a selected topic.
The aim of the program is to provide a sound understanding of economics and its applications.
Students in the program learn empirical modes of inquiry and quantitative methods, and how to apply these to investigate economic issues. After completing the program of study, graduates will have the knowledge and skills to conduct independent analyses for governments and private institutions, or will be well trained to pursue a PhD in economics. All classes in the master's program are in English.
